Inspired by the Arabic word “Mafaza” referenced in The Qur’an, Attainment is an olfactory ode to that promised Garden beneath which rivers flow and trees heavy with bounty bend low in humility…


إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا


Truth be told, this is not a revolutionary blend. Composed primarily of oud, rose and saffron, this age-old formula is arguably the most traditional mukhallat in the book. On the contrary, I wasn’t seeking to re-make the wheel here, merely chrome it with a personal Sundar touch! For although rose-ouds saturate the market these days I’m a sucker for a worthy rendition of this classic profile and I simply couldn’t resist crafting one to offer not only to the fragrance community, but also as a symbolic tribute and homage to the perfumers, sultans, and sufis of yore…

Imagine if you will a primal and barny Hindi oud paired with the smooth antique feel of buddha wood as these leathery lumbers form the structural foundation with both black and brown ambergris to bind them with a salty and animalic tenor. Bushman’s candle and Hawaiian vanilla then add a sultry and ambery sweetness to the rose bouquet blooming in the heart forming a decadent rose petal confection injected with musk and sprinkled with vermilion Kashmiri saffron, the rarest and most coveted strain…
