Pleasure Pavilion

Extrait de Parfum
100% Natural

Fragrance Family: Oriental
Scent Categories: Floral, Oud

Personally, this is my most anticipated release thus far and has even usurped Vespers as my most frequently worn perfume. Inspired by the hareems or private quarters of Mughal, Safavid and Ottoman royalty, this fragrance exudes oriental sensuality and grandeur. After over a year in the making, I am both proud and grateful to at long last invite you into my Pleasure Pavilion…

I envisioned a glorious sultan such as Suleiman the Magnificent or Akbar the Great reclining in his plush palace chambers against velvet cushions and silk brocade carpets whilst puffing tobacco from a bubbling jade hookah. Sizzling oud chips emit tendrils of smoke coiling from a censer and undulate through ornate marble lattices out into the courtyard. Here grows tuberose, exhaling her narcotic aroma on the balmy evening breeze. Ripe oranges and neroli blossoms litter the garden grounds where fair women mingle, giggling amongst the roses and carnations all blushing in bloom. The sultan looks on from afar, savoring his domain of olfactory delight…

At first spray, you’re met with a juicy burst of orange and orange blossom which set the tone but quickly give way to the stars of the show: Burley tobacco and tuberose absolute. This is perhaps one of my favourite pairings of materials that smells like a match made in heaven, much how rose and oud are as well. The dry, earthy, and undeniably masculine character of tobacco contrasts with the seductive allure of tuberose that feels deliciously carnal in their embrace. Suggestive by her very nature, I call tuberose the “Flesh Flower”, due to her uncanny meaty nuances, much like a crimson blossom flushed with blood. To accentuate these red floral tones I added a smattering of roses and spicy carnation along with a sprinkle of osmanthus for a golden, honeyed pop. Aged Indonesian patchouli then helps bridge the sultry heart notes to the rich and deep base accord. Precious Cambodi and Hindi oud are dunked into a delectable sea of Sumatran vanilla enriched with beeswax and sticky labdanum. All of which is then spiked with a trifecta of animalics to exalt the orchestra to a purring crescendo with leathery castoreum, furry deer musk, and salty but smooth white ambergris!

I intended this composition to be the masculine leaning counterpart to Hayati. For while she’s bright, ebullient, and emanates the sweet warmth of love, he’s bold but sophisticated. Commanding yes, but tasteful with debonair flair. I hope you enjoy his regal presence and companionship as much as I do.
